A quick Q & A with Becky Bacoca

Becky Bacoca is a part time model, graphic designer and works two jobs. I recently shot with Becky for a fashion series (you can see the result of that shoot on the cover of this issue of PhatBelt) and had an opportunity to learn more about what she does in real life. Here's my quick Q & A with Becky about life and her trading cards.

Todd: Give me a little information about your background?

Becky: I worked a lot of odd jobs after high school, got married/divorced at
a very young age, it wasn't until I was 25 that I realized I need to get my act together. I went to the Art institute in San Diego for four years and majored in Digital Arts. Even after that, I took on several odd jobs. I've done graphic design for a crazy world evangelist to a company that makes personal lubricants...go figure. It's definitely something I would use for stand-up comedy material or just blog about.

I am currently working full-time at Western Digital Corporation in Lake Forest and Saturdays at Outreach in Vista as a graphic artist. I freelance here and there, but I try not to take on too much, I have a lot on my plate along with the long commute.

Todd: What motivated you to create the trading cards?

Becky: The cards were created 3 years ago for a course I took in art school
(storytelling /character development). They were inspired by a pug named Fumi, from there, I developed more characters. Then I decided that one day, when I had an opportunity, I would actually like to use my creations and that's where the trading card idea came in.       Continued...
